About EMI TLC

National Chung Hsing University established the "NCHU EMI Teaching and Learning Center" in 2024, aiming to leverage its geographical advantages connecting south to north, expanding the concept of "deepening bilingual teacher professional development" with teachers at its core. The teaching capacity will gradually spread to courses, teaching assistants, and students through a concentric circle model. Through practical experience, we aim to work with national colleges and universities to create a "localized internationalization" teaching and research environment and jointly cultivate professional bilingual talents in specialized fields.

1. International EMI Teacher Training System

(1) Introduce EMI teaching skills courses (EMI Teacher Training Program) resources developed by credible international institutions.

(2) Integrate international professional EMI faculty to conduct multi-faceted teaching competency workshops, expanding teachers' international perspectives and encouraging Chinese-medium instructors to trial EMI teaching in their classrooms.

2. Intercollegiate Multidisciplinary Peer Observation Community

Encourage teachers to form cross-university, multidisciplinary bilingual teaching observation communities, strengthen interdisciplinary experience exchange and professional feedback, and match domestic and international EMI teaching consultants and experts to provide professional consultation for English-medium instruction teachers.

3. EMI Teaching Assistant Professional Development

Focus primarily on "teaching aids and educational software operation, classroom communication guidance," supplemented by "English skills training," conducting relevant workshops to enhance TAs' overall bilingual teaching abilities. Combined with cross-university excellent TA sharing and exchange measures, this builds systematic support for teaching assistants in EMI classrooms.
